5/5Alexander McQueen S/S 2003 Khaki Raw-Edge Frayed Pencil Skirt
From the S/S 2003 collection of Alexander McQueen, this pencil skirt is cut in a structured olive-khaki twill and executed with a deliberately deconstructed sensibility. The high waist is defined by a fitted waistband from which a row of intentionally raw, frayed fabric loops projects upward, creating a jagged crown-like frill that is clearly a designed feature rather than wear. Two wide belt-loop tabs with burnished brass press-studs sit over the waistband, reinforcing the utilitarian, military-surplus reference. The body is slim and straight, tapering slightly toward the hem. A central back seam runs the full length of the skirt, visible from the rear view. The hem repeats the waist treatment: a band of frayed, knotted loops encircles the lower edge, punctuated by small ladder-cut slits in the outer band. A concealed zip closure is visible at the centre back. The silk-toned lining, glimpsed in the interior shot, is finished with a bold red grosgrain tape detail.
