Alexander McQueen S/S 2002 Black Ruffled Tuxedo Shirt

From the S/S 2002 collection of Alexander McQueen, this black long-line shirt draws on the vocabulary of the formal tuxedo. A stand collar edged with gathered ruffle frames the neckline, continuing into a wide, densely ruffled bib that runs the full length of the front placket, concealing the button closure beneath. The ruching intensifies at the lower body, where broad horizontal bands of tightly gathered fabric wrap the front and rear of the shirt, creating a pronounced textural contrast against the otherwise plain, smooth ground cloth. Long set-in sleeves terminate in single-button cuffs. The back yoke is clean and unadorned; side seam vents at the hem allow ease of movement. The curved hem falls at hip length.
