From the S/S 2002 collection of Roberto Cavalli, this floor-length poncho is constructed in a deep chocolate-brown open-weave net worked with metallic thread throughout, imparting a subtle copper-toned lustre. The silhouette is voluminous and unshaped, cut in a single sweeping panel that falls to the floor and extends dramatically at the sides to form wide cape-like wings. A simple rounded neckline sits at the centre, with the open-knit structure radiating outward in a scalloped, web-like pattern — denser at the bodice and progressively more open towards the outer edges. The entire perimeter is finished with long, uneven fringe that trails at the hem, reinforcing the deliberately undone, fluid quality of the piece. The garment is entirely sheer and fully reversible in appearance, with no visible closures or lining.
