Roberto Cavalli F/W 2002 Black Paisley-Print Bias-Cut Slip Maxi Dress
From the F/W 2002 collection of Roberto Cavalli, this bias-cut slip dress is constructed in a fluid, lightweight fabric printed with an expansive paisley motif in tones of coral, rose, sage green, gold and white against a deep black ground. The print transitions from a more graphic, brushstroke-textured field at the bodice to a dense, ornate paisley border concentrated towards the hem, lending the piece a sense of visual momentum. Fine spaghetti straps support a straight-cut neckline at the front, while the back presents a softly cowled drape. Cut entirely on the bias, the body follows a fluid A-line silhouette that flares gently into an irregular, handkerchief-style hem with uneven points — particularly visible at the side and rear. The hem edge appears finished without additional trim, allowing the fabric to fall naturally. The overall construction is minimal and unboned, relying entirely on the bias grain for structure and drape.
