From the F/W 2000 collection of John Galliano, this midi skirt is cut in a close, column silhouette that tapers gently from the high waist to the knee before releasing into a subtle fishtail at the hem. The side seam is dressed with a long run of small self-covered buttons extending from the waistband almost to mid-calf, functioning as a decorative closure detail. The hem is finished with a multi-layered sheer ruffle in a finer, semi-transparent black fabric, lending a soft, fluid contrast to the structured body of the skirt. The waistband is clean and unadorned, and the overall cut is smooth and uninterrupted on the remaining panels.
