From the S/S 1998 collection of Dolce & Gabbana, this pencil-cut skirt is constructed in two distinct layers: a fitted opaque inner skirt forming the structured body, over which a sheer black mesh outer layer extends to the hem and falls slightly beyond, creating a translucent border at the base. The silhouette is straight and close-fitting through the hip, with the mesh overlay lending a deliberate lingerie-inflected quality to the overall form. The hem of the sheer layer is finished with a delicate scalloped or corded edge consistent with the character of the waistband trim.
