From the S/S 1999 collection of Christian Dior by John Galliano, this double-breasted blazer presents a studied contrast between tailored suiting and knitwear. The body is cut from a navy pinstripe cloth with structured shoulders and a deep peak lapel, fastening at the front with a six-button double-breasted arrangement in two columns of three. The sleeves depart entirely from the tailored body: they are constructed in a cable-knit with a visible metallic lustre, gathered and slouched toward the cuff to create a deliberately undone volume against the precision of the jacket body. At the back, the cable-knit extends across the upper yoke, forming a cropped bolero-like panel above the longer pinstriped back skirt, which falls away beneath it with a vent at the hem. Patch-style hip pockets are visible at the front. The overall silhouette is longline, sitting at approximately hip length. Confirm whether the metallic lustre on the cable-knit sleeves is a yarn-level metallic fibre or a surface treatment/coating.
