From the F/W 1992 collection of Comme Des Garçons, this maxi skirt is a study in sculptural tailoring and deliberate asymmetry. The exceptionally high waistband is folded and twisted at the front, forming a structural origami-like tuck that projects above the natural waist and anchors the composition. From this folded apex, a diagonal seam descends across the hip, delineating two distinct panels: a closer-fitting front section and a dramatically flared rear panel that sweeps to an uneven hem, considerably longer at the back. A deep front vent runs from mid-thigh to the hem, reinforcing the asymmetric geometry. The skirt is constructed in a smooth, tightly woven black fabric with a subtle sheen consistent with fine suiting cloth, and the interior is fully lined. The silhouette moves between architectural restraint and fluid volume depending on the angle, a hallmark of the house's rigorous approach to form.
