Christian Dior by John Galliano S/S 2005 Cream Draped Ruffled Top

From the S/S 2005 collection of Christian Dior by John Galliano, this fitted top is cut from a fine-gauge stretch jersey in a warm ivory-cream, its body worked into fluid diagonal draping that sweeps from the deep V-neckline across the torso to the hemline. The neckline is framed by a cascading double ruffle in a sheer, semi-translucent fabric with a finely crimped or pleated texture and a delicately scalloped edge, the same ruffle continuing to form short flutter sleeves at each shoulder. The reverse carries a deeply scooped back neckline finished with a narrow bound edge, and the hemline is left with a plain turned edge that follows the gentle flare created by the draped fabric. The silhouette is close-fitting throughout, emphasising the bias-influenced drape of the body.
