Yohji Yamamoto 1980s Black Crushed Velvet Wrap Two-Piece Dress
This Yohji Yamamoto two-piece from the 1980s comprises a long-sleeved wrap bolero and a coordinating column dress, both executed in black crushed velvet. The bolero features a deep V-neckline formed by a crossover front panel, set-in long sleeves with a slightly relaxed fit, and a self-fabric tie that fastens at the natural waist. The underdress presents a square neckline, a close-fitting silhouette, and falls to midi length. The crushed pile of the velvet reads with a tactile, irregular surface that shifts between matte and lustrous tones across the body. At the reverse, the tie wraps and knots at the centre back, visible as a gathered sash. The skirt portion hangs with clean vertical drape and a slight A-line ease toward the hem.
