From the S/S 1999 collection of Christian Dior by John Galliano, this sleeveless slip dress is constructed in a black fabric woven with an all-over tonal monogram-repeat jacquard pattern throughout the body. The neckline is a wide, scooped U-form at both front and back, supported by broad shoulder straps. The silhouette is closely fitted through the bodice and hips, flaring into a pronounced trumpet flounce at the hem. The lower section of the flounce is composed of a separate black floral lace layer, its scalloped edge providing the finishing trim; a horizontal satin ribbon or binding is visible at the junction between the jacquard body and the lace flounce, visible on both front and reverse. The dress is fully lined in what appears to be a smooth black satin-finish fabric, visible at the interior hem.
