Valentino F/W 2009 Teal-to-Black Ombré Ruched Silk Sleeveless Gown

From the F/W 2009 collection of Valentino, this floor-length sleeveless gown is executed in a luminous silk that graduates from deep teal at the bodice to near-black at the hem. The fitted bodice is entirely worked in fine horizontal ruching, with the gathered fabric arranged in a crossover configuration at the centre front, drawing the eye inward beneath a standing funnel collar. An empire-line seam delineates the bodice from the fluid skirt, which falls in uninterrupted bias-cut panels through the gradient dye, settling into a gentle train. The armholes are cleanly cut, lending an open sleeveless silhouette. At the rear, the ruching continues across a wide waist band before yielding to the smooth skirt panels; a concealed zip runs vertically at the centre back neckline.
