Roberto Cavalli S/S 2002 Ochre Tropical-Print Ruched Wrap Mini Skirt
From the S/S 2002 collection of Roberto Cavalli, this mini skirt is executed in a stretch jersey printed with a large-scale photographic composition of palm fronds, tropical foliage and textured landscape passages in ochre, amber, yellow, grey and brown. The skirt is cut on a wrap principle: a draped front panel crosses at the hip and is gathered into a ruched knot at the centre-front, creating a layered, asymmetric hem. The wide waistband is formed by multiple horizontal folds of the fabric, rolled and ruched to consolidate the silhouette. A fine braided black cord runs along the upper waistband, functioning as a drawstring or tie closure. The hem is finished with a narrow overlocked edge. The overall construction relies on the stretch of the fabric rather than boning or rigid interfacing, giving the skirt a fluid, body-conscious drape.
