Roberto Cavalli F/W 2003 Ivory Zebra-Print Lace-Up Midi Dress
From the F/W 2003 collection of Roberto Cavalli, this close-fitting midi dress is executed in a fluid, body-skimming fabric carrying an all-over photographic zebra print rendered in ivory, chocolate brown, warm gold and blush pink — the motif shifting seamlessly across the body to create an optical, trompe-l'œil effect. The neckline forms a deep V-shape, finished with a topstitched self-fabric binding, and is gathered and fastened with a woven satin ribbon threaded through eyelets in a lace-up configuration; the ribbon extends the full length of the centre front and terminates in a small gold-tone charm pendant. The long sleeves taper to close-fitted cuffs with clean-hemmed edges. The silhouette is body-conscious through the bodice and hips before releasing into a softly flared skirt with a plain hem. The reverse presents a shallow bateau-style neckline with the same topstitched binding, and the fabric carries multiple script signatures printed at intervals across the surface as part of the design.
