Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 1987 Red Satin Bustier-Bodice Lace-Up Mini Dress
From the S/S 1987 collection of Jean Paul Gaultier, this body-conscious mini dress articulates the house's signature lingerie-as-outerwear vocabulary with rigorous construction. The structured bodice is built with concentric topstitched cups in a conical bustier form, supported by broad, flat shoulder straps. The body is composed of two distinct fabrics: a lustrous satin in deep red forming the central front and back panels, and a matte, woven panel in a slightly lighter red lining the sides and flanks, creating a graphic two-tone panelled silhouette. Curved seaming at the waist and hip accentuates the body's contours, while the skirt tapers to a fitted hem at mid-thigh. The reverse features a central lace-up fastening threaded through gold-tone eyelets, closing with a flat-braided red cord — a detail drawn directly from traditional corsetry. A concealed zip runs along the side seam.
