From the S/S 2000 collection of Gucci by Tom Ford, this black midi dress is constructed with a sweetheart-inflected neckline framed by a deeply ruched, sheer cap-sleeve bodice that gathers into a defined empire seam. The sheer layer is semi-transparent and carries fine vertical pleating across the upper chest, visible clearly from the rear view. Below the empire seam, the body falls in a close-fitting, bias-influenced column that skims the figure through the hip and thigh before releasing into a fluted, godeted hem. The hem is finished with a double-layered sheer frill that echoes the bodice fabric, lending a fluid, undulating edge.
