Gucci F/W 2006 Sheer Silk-Panelled Chain-Embellished Mini Dress

From the F/W 2006 collection of Gucci by Frida Giannini, this mini dress is noted as a prototype piece. The construction pairs a high-lustre satin-finish body with sheer, semi-transparent overlay panels that extend across the shoulders and form full-length bishop sleeves, tapering to an open, unfinished cuff. The front presents a rounded, relatively modest neckline, while the back opens into a deep, scooped décolleté. A satin self-tie sash wraps at the waist, crossing at the back and fastening into a trailing bow — the primary closure mechanism visible at the rear. The skirt falls in a softly draped, slightly gathered silhouette ending at the upper thigh. At the hem, a deep band of densely applied tonal chain-stitch embellishment — composed of rows of fine metallic chains threaded horizontally across the ground fabric — terminates the garment. Several of these chains hang loose below the hemline, consistent with the prototype or sample status of the piece. The overall palette is a warm champagne gold throughout.
