From the S/S 1997 collection of Gucci by Tom Ford, this long coat is cut in a deep navy fabric with a pronounced iridescent sheen that shifts between blue and near-black depending on the light. The silhouette is structured at the shoulder and falls in a lean A-line through the body to approximately mid-calf length. A wide, deeply cut lapel frames the open front, finishing in a pointed break at the chest. The coat is lined and is to be fastened by a single concealed button, with no visible external buttons. Long set-in sleeves taper cleanly to unadorned cuffs. The back is worked in a single back seam with a relaxed vent at the hem, allowing ease of movement. Construction throughout is precise and spare, consistent with Tom Ford's tailoring vocabulary of the period.
