Gianni Versace S/S 1994 Black Leather Cutout-Floral Mini Dress
From the S/S 1994 collection of Gianni Versace, this mini dress is constructed in smooth black leather and represents the house's mastery of precise cutwork technique. The bodice is fitted and panelled, with a low scoop neckline and twin narrow spaghetti straps in the same leather. Across the front, back and skirt, the surface is punctuated by a repeating four-petal floral motif achieved through precision cutwork: each flower is formed by four pointed oval apertures meeting at a central point, with the intervening leather tabs left intact to describe the petal forms. The cut-outs continue across the side panels and into the drop-waist flared skirt, which falls in a gentle A-line to a scalloped hem at mini length. A concealed zip fastening runs along the centre back. The construction is clean and unlined, allowing the apertures to reveal the skin beneath across the full surface of the garment.
Size L (IT44/FR40) — Cut close to the body; the unlined leather construction offers minimal give. The pit-to-pit measurement of 42 cm suggests a fitted chest of approximately 84 cm.
