Comme Des Garcons F/W 1993 Comme Des Garçons Multicolour Paisley-Print Sheer Panelled Maxi Coat
From the F/W 1993 collection of Comme des Garçons, this maxi-length coat is constructed from a semi-sheer fabric engineered with a large-scale mixed-motif print that combines ornate medallion and sinuous paisley forms in terracotta, celadon, gold and ivory across the upper body, transitioning into a deep charcoal ground carrying smaller-scale paisley and ogee patterning towards the hem. The silhouette is closely fitted through the bodice and long sleeves, with the construction exploiting the diagonal placement of the printed panels to create a spiralling, trompe-l'œil effect across the torso. A small stand-and-fall collar frames the neckline, and the front placket closes with a series of small spherical metal buttons. The cuffs finish with a delicate lettuce-edge frill consistent with the semi-sheer fabric's rolled hem treatment. The back seam and panel joins contribute to the sculptural diagonal drape. The skirt section opens into a flowing, bias-cut maxi length with an uneven, handkerchief-pointed hem that pools at floor level, the darker lower panels lending visual weight to the base.
