Christian Dior by John Galliano S/S 2000 Burgundy Mesh Floral-Embellished Maxi Skirt
From the S/S 2000 collection of Christian Dior by John Galliano, this maxi skirt is constructed from a fine open-weave mesh in a deep burgundy, fitted through the hip and releasing into a gradual flare toward the hem. The waistband is formed from a wider knitted rib in a slightly lighter mauve-rose tone, sitting flat against the body without visible fastenings at the waist. Diagonal panelling seams articulate the silhouette at the hip, giving the skirt a subtle bias-like movement. A large-scale floral motif — rendered in tonal black appliqué and embellished with beading — sweeps across the lower front panel, extending from mid-thigh to the hem. The hem itself features a double layer: the outer mesh falls to maxi length with a softly scalloped, unbound edge, beneath which a sheer flesh-toned underskirt is visible and cuts slightly shorter, lending a languid, layered finish to the silhouette.
